dragons_tailflattop_mountain_010.jpg  On Saturday, May 17th, my dad (Scott), Josh Edwards, and I climbed the Dragon's Tail Coulior in Rocky Mountain National Park. We woke up at 3 o'clock in the morning and left Fort Collins at 4 in the mourning.

We arrived at the parking lot around 5, just as the sun was starting to come up, so it was really pretty. We hiked around Emerald Lake to the base of our climb. We put on our crampons and prepared for the climb. When we started up the sun was all the way up. I stopped continuously to take pictures.  When I got towards the top a skier started his way down 25 feet ahead of me he fell over. He came to within a couple feet of me and almost hit me. He fell about another 50 feet before he stopped and my dad grabbed his ski. He was fortunately not hurt and I began climbing again. It wasn't long before I came to a very rocky section just before the top, slipped a bit before finding a easier way up. Once we were all on the top we took our crampons off and rested. The last thing we had to do was walk 3 miles back to the parking lot. We loaded up in the car and drove back to Fort Collins.
